Eligibility Criteria

  • Must be an Indian citizen
  • Male, Female, or Third Gender candidates can apply
  • Preferably a resident of Bihar (original resident of Bihar State)

Educational Qualifications (as on 01-08-2025)

  • Bachelor of Science (B.Sc) degree with Physics as a subject from any recognized university
  • Minimum Marks:
    • General/EWS/BC/EBC candidates: Minimum 50% marks
    • SC/ST candidates: Minimum 45% marks
  • Degree must be from a government recognized university

Physical Standards

Height Requirements:

  • Unreserved, BC - Male candidates: Minimum 165 cm
  • EBC, SC/ST - Male candidates: Minimum 160 cm
  • All Female candidates: Minimum 155 cm

Chest Measurement (Male candidates only):

  • Unreserved, BC, EBC - Male: 81 cm (without expansion), 86 cm (with expansion), minimum 5 cm difference
  • SC/ST - Male: 79 cm (without expansion), 84 cm (with expansion), minimum 5 cm difference
  • Female candidates: No chest measurement required

Weight:

  • Female candidates: Minimum 48 kg

Selection Process

Phase 1: Preliminary Written Examination (100 marks, 2 hours)

  • 40 multiple choice questions on General Knowledge and Current Affairs
  • 60 multiple choice questions on Physics
  • Qualifying marks: Minimum 30%
  • Shortlisting: Top 20 times the number of vacancies for Main Exam

Phase 2: Main Written Examination

  • Paper 1: General Language Knowledge (100 marks, 90 minutes)
    • 50 marks - General Hindi
    • 50 marks - General English
    • Minimum qualifying marks: 30
  • Paper 2: Physics (100 marks, 3 hours)
    • 100 multiple choice questions
    • Minimum qualifying marks: 33%
  • Negative marking: 0.2 marks deducted for each wrong answer

Phase 3: Physical Test (Qualifying in Nature)

  • 1 Mile/1 Km Running: Maximum 7 minutes
  • Long Jump: Male 10 feet, Female 7 feet (minimum)
  • High Jump: Male 3'6", Female 2'6" (minimum)
  • Shot Put: 16 lbs (male) - 14 feet, 12 lbs (female) - 8 feet (minimum)
  • Each candidate gets maximum 3 attempts in running, long jump, high jump, and shot put

Merit List Formation

  • Based on Main Exam Paper 2 (Physics) marks
  • Tie-breaking: By date of birth (senior candidate preferred)
  • Further tie-breaking: By educational qualification and then prelim marks
  • Category-wise merit list
