Eligibility Criteria

Essential Qualifications (Any one of the following):

  • Master's degree of a recognized University in Hindi or English with English or Hindi as a compulsory or elective subject or as a medium of examination at degree level, OR
  • Master's degree in any subject other than Hindi or English, with Hindi or English medium and English or Hindi as a compulsory or elective subject at degree level, OR
  • Master's degree in any subject other than Hindi or English, with Hindi and English as compulsory or elective subjects or either of the two as the medium of examination and the other as compulsory or elective subject at degree level, OR
  • Recognized Diploma or Certificate course in translation from Hindi to English and vice versa, OR
  • Two years' experience of translation work from Hindi to English and vice-versa in Central or State government offices including Government of India undertakings

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Knowledge at Matriculation level of a recognized Board of one language other than Hindi mentioned in the Eighth Schedule of the Constitution
  • Degree or Diploma in translation from Hindi to English and vice-versa from a recognized University or equivalent Master's degree

Age Limit

  • Unreserved (UR) Candidates: Maximum 30 years
  • Age Calculation Date: Last date of submission of online application (20th February 2026)
  • Age Relaxation: Relaxable up to 5 years for regular employees working in Council/Government/Autonomous Bodies/PSUs as per GoI/CSIR rules
  • SC/ST/OBC Relaxation: As per Government of India rules (applicable when applying for reserved posts)
  • PwBD Candidates: Age relaxation of 10 years (or more for SC/ST) as per GoI guidelines
  • Ex-Servicemen: As per GoI/CSIR rules
  • Widows/Divorced/Separated Women: Relaxable up to 35 years (or 40 for SC/ST)

Job Responsibilities

  • Assist in implementation of the official Language policy of Government of India
  • Translate official correspondences, scientific literatures, documents, and records from English to Hindi and Hindi to English
  • Assist in preparation and submission of reports and returns
  • Any other work as assigned by Higher Authorities

Examination Details:

  • Medium: Both English and Hindi
  • Standard: Graduation Level
  • Location: Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh
  • Paper-II: Evaluated only for candidates securing minimum threshold marks in Paper-I
  • Final Merit List: Based on marks obtained in Paper-II
  • Admit Card: Will be displayed on CIMAP website

Tie-Breaking Rules

  • Candidate with lesser negative marks placed higher
  • Date of Birth: Older candidate placed higher
  • Earlier acquisition of Essential Degree
  • Alphabetical order of first names
