Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Gandhinagar invites applications from eligible Ph.D. holders in Chemistry for the position of Postdoctoral Fellow in the Main Group Organometallic Chemistry Lab, led by Prof. Priyabrata Ghana. This is an immediate opening with a contract period of 6 months.

Job Description

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

  • Design and synthesis of low-valent main group and transition metal compounds
  • Activation of small molecules including N2, H2, CO, CO2, and ethylene
  • Training and mentoring M.Sc. and Ph.D. students in the laboratory
  • Writing and publishing research manuscripts in peer-reviewed journals
  • Contributing to ongoing research projects and collaborative initiatives

Minimum Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Chemistry: Degree awarded or thesis submitted from a reputed institute in India
  • Academic Performance: Minimum 60% or equivalent grade from graduation onwards
  • Class 12th & 10th: Minimum 55% or equivalent grade in both

Desirable Skills & Experience

  • Proficiency in Schlenk techniques (highly preferred)
  • Experience in the synthesis of main group or organometallic compounds
  • Proficiency with state-of-the-art analytical techniques for compound characterization
  • Experience in spectroscopic analysis (NMR, IR, Mass spectrometry, X-ray crystallography, etc.)
  • Good project management and communication skills
  • Previous publication record in reputed journals
