Essential Qualification
Option 1: Master's degree in Hindi or English from a recognized University with English or Hindi as a compulsory or elective subject or as a medium of examination at degree level.
Option 2: Master's degree in any subject other than Hindi or English from a recognized University, with Hindi or English medium and English or Hindi as a compulsory or elective subject or as a medium of examination at degree level.
Option 3: Master's degree from a recognized University in any subject with both Hindi and English as compulsory or elective subjects or either of the two as medium of examination and the other as a compulsory or elective subject at degree level.
Option 4: Recognized Diploma or Certificate course in translation from Hindi to English and vice-versa, OR two years' experience of translation work from Hindi to English and vice-versa in Central or State government offices including Government of India undertakings.
Desirable Qualification
Knowledge at the level of Matriculation of a recognized Board or equivalent of one of the languages mentioned in the Eighth Schedule of the Constitution.
Degree or Diploma in translation from Hindi to English and vice-versa from a recognized University.
Job Requirements
To assist in the implementation of the official Language policy of Government of India.
To translate official correspondences, scientific literatures, documents, records, etc. from English to Hindi and vice-versa.
To assist in preparation of and submit reports & returns.
Any other work as may be assigned by Higher Authorities from time to time.
Age Limit & Relaxation
Age Limit: Candidates should have completed 18 years and not exceed 30 years (for UR candidates) as on last date of online application (20-02-2026).
Upper Age Limit is relaxable:
Up to 5 years for regular employees of Council/Government/Autonomous Bodies/PSUs
Up to 5 years for SC/ST candidates (in addition to their reserved posts)
Up to 3 years for OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) candidates
Up to 10 years for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) - 15 years for SC/ST and 13 years for OBC
As per GoI/CSIR rules for Ex-servicemen

Selection Process
Selection Method: Open written competitive examination in two papers.
Paper-I (1 Hour): Objective Type Multiple Choice Examination
General Intelligence: 50 questions × 3 marks = 150 marks
Quantitative Aptitude: 25 questions × 3 marks = 75 marks
General Awareness: 25 questions × 3 marks = 75 marks
Total: 300 marks
Negative Marking: 1 mark deducted for every wrong answer
Medium: English and Hindi
Standard: Graduation Level
Paper-II (2 Hours): Descriptive Type (Only for candidates meeting minimum threshold marks in Paper-I)
Total Marks: 300
Content: Paragraph writing in English and Hindi, Precis writing, Translation from English to Hindi and Hindi to English
Final Merit List: Based on total marks obtained in Paper-II only.
Exam Center: Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh (may be conducted at nearby districts if required).
