Eligibility Criteria
Educational Qualification
Class I Marine Engineer Officer (MEO) qualification
Minimum academic score of 30%
Desirable qualification 10% (total academic weightage 40%)
Work Experience
Minimum 1 year experience as Chief Engineer in coastal or foreign-going vessels (Mandatory)
Desirable experience: 15% weightage
Must be well-versed with all aspects of ship management, navigation, cargo operations, ISM and ISPS compliance, statutory surveys and audits
Knowledge of organizing sailing schedules as per owner requirements
Preference given to candidates with PSU experience in ship operation and management
Preference given to islanders, but post is open to all if qualified islanders unavailable

Job Profile & Key Responsibilities
Overall in-charge and responsibility of allotted vessels
Supervision and monitoring of ship officers and crew
Supervise timely completion of repairs (dry dock and afloat)
Timely renewal of statutory and Class certificates of vessels
Monitor statutory survey requirements
Monitor fuel consumption pattern and bunkering activities
Monthly, weekly, and daily monitoring of vessel performance
Follow-up on repairs and maintenance with suppliers and CSL
Coordination with shipping agents for pilot, customs, loading/unloading
Technical inputs in tendering process
Monthly inspection reports and emergency response team participation
Monitoring hazardous occurrences and reviewing safety reports
Ensure Planned Maintenance System is followed per OEM instructions

Important Information
