Eligibility Criteria

Essential Qualifications

  • Educational Background: Indian Nationals holding Graduate or Post Graduate degree in Law from recognized Universities, Colleges and Institutions of National and International repute, and/or Chartered Accountant
  • Minimum Marks: Must have obtained at least 50% marks in:
    • 3-year LLB degree program, OR
    • 5-year integrated LLB degree program, OR
    • Post Graduation degree program, OR
    • Qualified as Chartered Accountant

Age Limit

  • Candidates should not exceed 35 years of age as on the date of advertisement

Preferred Qualifications

  • Chartered Accountants who have completed their articleship in taxation
  • Law graduates/post graduates who have been engaged in research work/projects in taxation
  • Candidates with skills in Information & Communication Technology (ICT)
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills

Job Description

The Young Professionals will be attached with the office of CIT(DR) or Sr. DR in the Income Tax Appellate Tribunal for the following responsibilities:

  • Studying the paper books of listed cases
  • Analyzing the judgments relied upon by the assessee
  • Finding out judgments in favour of the department
  • Identifying distinguishing facts wherever applicable
  • Preparing briefing notes and written submissions
  • Undertaking research/study on specific points as briefed by CIT(DR)/Sr. Dr.
  • Supporting effective litigation management

Selection Process

The selection process will involve two stages:

  1. Screening: Initial evaluation of applications based on qualifications
  2. Interview: Personal interview for shortlisted candidates

Important Information

  • No Permanent Employment: The selected candidate is not entitled for permanent employment
  • Contract Period: One year, may be extended by another year subject to satisfactory performance
  • Travel Allowance: No TA or DA shall be paid for attending the interview
  • Document Verification: At the time of interview, shortlisted candidates must produce bio data and certificates in original for verification
  • Notification Method: Shortlisted candidates will be informed on their email address or by speed post
